Yockanookany River

This 78-mile long river runs through central Mississippi, photographed here in Leake County.  The Choctaw Indian tribe who inhabited the area named the river, but my efforts to obtain a literal meaning of the name were unsuccessful.  No doubt many Mississippians have at one time or another dropped a hook in these waters.
